GET TESTED!
TAKE CONTROL, TAKE THE TEST
National HIV Testing Week is June 26 - 30, 2006
(Download full text) (Testing
locations)
One-fourth of all individuals who are
HIV-positive do not even know they have been infected with HIV, the
virus that causes AIDS. Many people don’t show symptoms for years after
infection. How can you tell if you may be infected with HIV? The only
way to know for sure is to get tested.
Free HIV testing for the
public will be offered at numerous locations throughout Sarasota County
during the week of June 26 - 30, 2006. Testing is always private and
confidential, and tests that don't require blood are available.
HANS, the Sarasota County
Health Department (SCHD), and Community AIDS Network (CAN) staff will be
available to assist anyone who may test positive with receiving access
to medical care and treatment.
If you’ve never been
tested or if you have had unprotected sex or shared a needle since your
last test, now is the time to get another HIV test. No appointments are
needed. Call 861-2919 or 861-2976 for more information.
